CHQ architects redesign & regenerate Redhill town centre

CHQ Architects are working alongside contractors preparing construction information for a mixed-use joint venture development in Redhill for Sainsbury’s and Aviva Investors.

The proposals involve redeveloping the existing 25,000 sqft Sainsbury’s store and adjacent Lombard House office block to provide a brand new 80,000 sq ft Sainsbury’s store, a new 100 bed hotel and new gym facility. The proposed store has a JSR and 13,000 sqft sales at mezzanine level. Two levels of customer car park are located above the store and are served by an atrium fronting London Road. The scheme also includes a new pedestrian access to the Harlequin Theatre and Redhill Library, improvements to town centre car parking and a re-invigorated public space alongside Warwick Quadrant. Warwick Quadrant which forms the existing Sainsbury’s store, retail units with theatre and library above was developed in the 1980’s and is now looking a little tired and outdated.

This mixed-use scheme presents a wonderful opportunity to revitalise a significant part of the town centre. The development will help to promote Redhill as the focus for retail and leisure activities in East Surrey and turn the town centre into a place where people want to shop, stay and enjoy.
